Both pieces for the exhibition 'Blooming in Black' explore the violent duality of creation and destruction, deeply rooted in pagan symbolism. This is explored by personifying the cosmic explosion of the Big Bang through Nike- the ancient Greek deity of victory and Dionysus greek god of creativity, liberation and ecstatic artistic expression. These works suggest that true triumph requires us to shatter what no longer serves us. Creation cannot exist without destruction; to forge the best version of ourselves, we must be willing let go of preconceived expectations we set for ourselves.
